About Aragorn

Jarvid Aragorn of Firien Wood moved in with us in April 2019 after a long wait. What a joy!

He comes from the Kennel of Firien Wood, which I got to know through our first Flat-Coated Retriever male, Beautyfield's Colin Farell. Colin had his first mating in the Kennel of Firien Wood and that's how I got to know the great bitches. Unfortunately, Colin crossed the rainbow bridge far too early in 2018 at just under 7 years old.

Since I had gotten my hunting license in the meantime, we went to puppy school at the German Wirehaired Pointer Association. After that, the very intensive training to become a hunting dog began. But it was a lot of fun and worth it. For us, the highlight was the VPS 2021, which Aragorn won in the 1st round.

Prize as search winner. He is also able to spot furred game and stands in front of it (certified by a judge). Through his tests, Aragorn has the "Hunting Performance Breed" rating and always accompanies me to the hunting area. He is a great hunting companion who does his work independently and is highly driven, but never lets me out of his sight.

We also like to go to exhibitions, but unfortunately the Corona pandemic prevented this for 2 years. So we only started visiting exhibitions in 2022 and have already achieved excellent results at various exhibitions. We now have to wait a year and then he could also become a beauty champion if we continue to be lucky.

On December 10th, 2022, Aragorn received a VDH and a DRC CAC at the IRA in Kassel in the working dog class and thus fulfills the requirements for the "German Champion (VDH)" for the "DRC Champion with working title, a CAC from a special breed dog show of the DRC is still missing". We received the last CAC on April 23rd, 2023 in Zeestow with the predicate, Best Grundog. So I can apply for the DRC Champion with working title immediately, no sooner said than done. In any case, I am very proud of my male. The champion certificate arrived on May 25th, 2023. With the exhibition in Belgium, Golden Dog Trophy 2023, we can apply for the next champion certificate (CIB). In any case, the year 2023 has been very successful for us so far.

On September 2nd and 3rd, 2023, we visited the International Dog Show in Luxembourg and were able to achieve a V2 Res. CAC in the champion class. Since September 24th, 2023, Aragorn has also been a Luxembourg beauty champion. From December 22nd, 2023, Aragorn can also officially use the title "Le Titre de

Champion International de Beautè (CIB)". We have thus earned 4 champion titles and

all set goals were achieved.

For breeding purposes, I have implemented a DNA test where breeders can check whether Aragorn could be considered as a stud dog (https://my.vgl.ucdavis.edu). More under the Health section.

In everyday life he is a pleasant companion for all activities. As is typical for a Flat, he is very friendly, active and follows me everywhere. He is playful and likes to be challenged with a dummy or to just play football with me. He is also a passion for water, where he can fetch dummies or ducks. If I am lying on the sofa, he loves to romp and wrestle with me in Flatart. But whatever he does, you can stop it straight away as long as he is obedient. If he is in a good mood, he comes to me for a cuddle, which is the highlight of the evening. He really likes walks in the woods, but the city is horrible. He gets on really well with everyone and anyone; with small dogs he lies down and cuddles with them.
